When you’re cooking at home, preparing your own gluten-free meals and snacks, it’s much easier to adhere to the restrictions of a gluten-free diet. But when you’re dining out, you have much less control over your food and how it’s prepared.
For people with celiac disease or those who choose to live a gluten-free lifestyle, dining out can be very challenging. In fact a study by Columbia University revealed that 86% of celiac patients said the difficulties of dining out had a negative impact on them. In a larger study at the University of Ottawa, nearly half the celiac respondents said they sometimes avoided eating in restaurants.
